Nether Stowe School was inspected by Ofsted on 31st January and 1st February 2017 and the report was published on 1st March 2017 (https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/124409). A copy of the report can also be found on the Ofsted tab of the school website.
There is much in the report with which we can be pleased: the confirmation that the school knows every pupil, strong governance, the real sense of community, the rich and varied curriculum, the strong focus on personal development and wellbeing, the very good teaching in some areas, promotion of equal opportunities and the positive impact of support for low ability students.
The report however makes clear that there is much still to do particularly with regard to improving the examination results for students in year 11 and the sixth form. Governors and school leaders are very committed to delivering the improvements required. Please be assured we are already working together to address the issues identified. Although we are disappointed with the judgement, the report makes clear that we have a solid base from which to work and, with careful planning and everyone working together, we are confident that we will be able to bring about improvement.
The governing board will keep you up to date with developments and look forward to sharing with you the signs of success.
